About Liana

Thoughtful, relational work grounded in real experience

I am Liana Busoli, a counsellor, clinical supervisor, university educator and facilitator based in Brisbane.

Across my clinical, teaching and organisational work, I am interested in what helps people feel safer, understand themselves more clearly and respond with greater freedom rather than remaining in entrenched patterns.

Big Life grew from something I repeatedly noticed in practice: people often develop understandable ways of avoiding distress, uncertainty or vulnerability, but those strategies can gradually narrow their lives. My work is about helping people understand what their patterns have been protecting, while creating more room for choice, connection and what matters to them.

My professional background

I hold a Master of Counselling, a Graduate Certificate in Mediation and Conflict Resolution and a Bachelor of Arts in Studies in Religion. I am an ACA Level 4 counsellor and an accredited supervisor, and I teach within a Master of Counselling program.

My professional experience includes community mental health, trauma, domestic and family violence, sexual violence, crisis support, employee assistance programs, private practice, clinical supervision and organisational training.

I have worked with individuals, practitioners, leaders and organisations across government, justice, education, community and corporate settings.

How I work

My approach is warm, engaged, thoughtful and direct. I take people’s experiences seriously without treating them as problems to be reduced to a diagnosis, a technique or a tidy explanation.

My work is informed by trauma therapy, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, systems thinking and relational approaches. I am particularly interested in how power, context and relationships shape people’s experiences, both within therapy and within organisations.

I value first and foremost kindness, and curiosity, collaboration, honest reflection and enough humour to keep serious work human and warm!

Working with me

Through Big Life, I provide individual counselling for women and evidence-informed training for organisations.

I also provide professional and clinical supervision through The Counselling Supervision Centre.
